Singapore Tourist Visa

Singapore has always been a favourite Asian hotspot for holidaymakers. The eclectic mix of multiethnic lifestyle, chic modernism and amazing innovative tourist attractions and scenic natural landscapes are perfect for all genres of travellers. If Singapore holiday is on your mind, there are few things you need to take care of before you can arrive in Singapore. Apart from itinerary planning and making reservations for flight tickets and hotel accommodations, you will also need to get your Singapore travel visa sorted out before you embark on your Singapore journey. Here are few guidelines that you should know before you plan your trip to Singapore:

  • Depending upon your nationality, you may or may not need a visa to enter Singapore. However, every visitor travelling to Singapore should have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Singapore.
  • Anyone visiting Singapore should hold a confirmed air ticket for homebound or onward journey once visit to Singapore is complete. They should also present evidence of entry into next destination such as visa of the next country to be visited after completing Singapore trip.
  • The visitor should be able to present evidence of enough financial backing to fund the duration of stay in Singapore.
  • Visitors should keep their duly filled arrival card, boarding pass and Yellow fever vaccination certificate (if applicable) safely and must produce the same when requested at the immigration checkpoint at Singapore.
  • Citizens of Australia, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, United States and European Union Nations can visit Singapore without a visa for 90 days.
  • Nationals of countries exempt under visa-free country list need to apply and acquire valid Singapore travel visa before they arrive in Singapore. Citizens of the following countries grouped as Assessment Level I can apply for a Singapore visa online and obtain an E-visa before their arrival in Singapore:

    Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Guinea, India, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Moldova, People’s Republic of China, Holders of Hong Kong Document of Identity, Holders of Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Travel Permit, Russia, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

  • The following nationals of Assessment Level II countries need to acquire a Singapore tourist visa stamped on their passport before they arrive in Singapore:

    Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, holders of Palestinian Authority Passport, Refugee travel documents issued by a Middle East country and temporary passport issued by the United Arab Emirates.

  • Any country that is not part of Assessment Level I and II country list can enter Singapore without a visa for 30 days.

Singapore Tourist Visa Requirements :

The following documents are required to apply for Singapore Tourist Visa:

  • Application Form 14A duly filled and signed
  • A recent passport size photograph not older than 3 months. The photograph must not be blurry or hazy, the face should be clearly visible, features such as ears and eyes should not be covered by hair or any accessories. Headgears, eyeglasses, sunglasses, coloured contact lenses should be avoided. The specifications should be of 35mm width and 45mm height without any borders and should have a white background and an even exposure. The face and upper shoulder of the applicant should be visible and face should be forward facing.
  • A photocopy of passport biodata page and UAE visa for UAE expats. The passport must have at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Singapore and must have at least 2 blank pages.
  • Confirmed flight details
  • NOC Letter from Employer / Sponsor stating purpose of travel
  • Form V394 – Letter of Introduction for Visa Application from local contact in Singapore who is either a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent residence at least 21 years of age
  • Travel details, itineraries, and hotel or accommodation details in Singapore
  • Any additional documents as requested by the visa issuance authority.
  • Nonrefundable visa processing fee of SGD30 per application and additional visa service fee.
Singapore Tourist Visa Requirements :

If you are Assessment Level I National, visa processing may take 3 working days once the application is submitted. Assessment Level II Citizen applicants may get their visa in 5 to 7 days after submission of visa application. However, each case is considered and processed in its own merit. The processing can be delayed in case the application needs to be verified thoroughly and additional documents are requested. Working days exclude weekends and holidays.

Points to keep in mind regarding Singapore visa:
  • Apply for Singapore visa 30 days before you arrive in Singapore.
  • The visa application form and required documents must be correct and should not contain any discrepancy. The application form and all the requisite documents should be in English. In case any misleading, false information or avoiding to follow the required conditions will lead to rejection of visa. The reason for rejection of visa will not be stated by the visa issuance authority.
  • At the Immigration checkpoints, if you are granted entry into Singapore, you will be given a visit pass by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority officers. This visit pass indicates the duration of stay in Singapore irrespective of the period of stay granted in your Singapore tourist visa. You cannot engage in any work or business activities while you are in Singapore on a Visit Pass.
  • A valid Singapore visa does not give you a guarantee that you will be allowed to enter Singapore. The sole authority to decide whom to grant permission to enter Singapore solely lies with the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority of Singapore. The number of days you can stay in Singapore is also decided by the immigration officers.
  • You cannot overstay in Singapore once your visit pass validity expires. It is a punishable offense in Singapore. If you need to extend your stay, you can do so by applying for an extension of stay before your visa expires while you are in Singapore.
